Privacy notice
Carbon.Supply is a carbon market intelligence service and a product of Wovoka Inc., which is responsible for the personal data described here. Questions or requests: hello@carbon.supply.
What we collect
- When you sign up: your email address, and your name, organisation and the editions you choose if you give them.
- When you email us: your message, your email address and name, and our replies.
- When you add a WhatsApp number (on the sign-up form or at /whatsapp/): the number, linked to your subscription once you confirm it from your email, so our assistant knows it is you.
- When you message or call our assistant (WhatsApp, phone or the website): your phone number or email, your questions and our answers.
- When you visit the site without signing up: anonymous usage measured by Google Analytics (pages viewed, approximate location, device type), and our own anonymous daily counts of pages viewed, links and buttons clicked and words typed into the site search. They hold no cookie, address or identifier, so we cannot tell who you are.
- When you are signed up and read the site: what you read, linked to your subscription. That means which pages and editions you open, roughly how long you spend on them, how far you scroll, and which links and buttons you click, plus which links you click in our emails. It starts when you open the site from one of our emails: the link carries a short code that tells our site it is you. Your browser keeps that code and we remove it from the address bar, so it is not passed on if you share the page.
If you buy a paid plan, Stripe takes the payment and holds your card details; we receive your email, what you bought and whether it is paid, never the card number.
How we use it
- To send you the editions and alerts you asked for, and to answer your questions.
- To understand what each reader finds useful, so we can improve the editions and decide what to build next. We may also count readers by organisation, for example how many readers at one organisation opened an edition.
- To choose which tips we email you about the WhatsApp assistant: whether you have asked it anything yet decides which version you get. We use that you asked, not what you asked.
- To keep the service working and secure.
We do not sell personal data or share your reading with anyone else, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your number or email for cold calls or third-party marketing.
AI
Our assistant and our inbox use Anthropic's Claude to draft answers and replies. Your question or email is sent to Anthropic to produce that draft. A person at Carbon.Supply approves every email reply before it is sent.
Who processes it for us
Stripe (payments), Supabase (database), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (email), Twilio and WhatsApp (messages and calls), Anthropic (AI drafting) and Google (analytics, and our sign-up form). Each handles the data only to provide its service to us.
How long we keep it
- Your subscription details: while you are subscribed, and for a short time after you unsubscribe so we can honour it.
- Your reading history on the site: 12 months, then deleted.
- Assistant questions and answers: 12 months. In those records your phone number is stored only as a one-way code, not as the number itself.
- Emails: as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of the conversation.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any email with the link at the bottom, or by replying "unsubscribe".
- Reply STOP to our WhatsApp number to stop messages.
- Stop linking your reading to your subscription with the button below. We delete the reading history we hold for you, and you keep getting the emails. You can also ask by email.
- Ask us to show, correct or delete what we hold about you at hello@carbon.supply.
Text messages
If you add your mobile number on carbon.supply and tick the box to receive texts, Carbon.Supply sends you alerts when a carbon project on your watch list changes on its public registry, and replies to questions you text to the Carbon.Supply assistant. Ticking the box is optional and is not required to subscribe.
- How often: up to 10 messages a month, plus replies to questions you send.
- Cost: Msg & data rates may apply.
- Stop or get help: reply STOP to any message to cancel, or HELP for help. You can also email hello@carbon.supply.
- What we keep: your number, when and on which page you agreed to texts and the wording you agreed to, and the messages we exchange.
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or text messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Changes
If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top.
