While the market was in New York, Tanzania issued BURN a second Article 6 authorisation for CORSIA cookstove credits, Rwanda said it will authorise fewer, better projects, and the UN's Article 6.4 experts moved clean cooking toward metered usage. Gold Standard's Ongoing Emissions Responsibility group will decide which of these instruments count after 2030. East Africa is where the cookstove market's next rules get tested first.

Sixty cocktails from Lake Victoria: twenty-one growers, a bike race, and the bitters bottle that pays for the forest
On a hillside above Lake Victoria, twenty-one smallholders hand-pollinate vanilla under a canopy of banana and shade trees. In May 2025 they raced bicycles through Nkokonjeru to celebrate the first harvest sold under their own name. Today that harvest is a one-ounce bottle of cocktail bitters on Amazon and on the back bar of the Beverly Wilshire. This is what it looks like when the land pays before the credits do.

Tanzania grants BURN a second Article 6 authorisation for CORSIA credits
About 785,000 corresponding-adjusted cookstove credits, vintages 2022–2025, over 40 percent already pre-sold.
Why it matters. Tanzania is now a repeat issuer of cookstove LoAs. A government that signs twice is a government a forward buyer can underwrite.
Rwanda: 29 projects, about $1.5M earned, and a stated preference for quality over volume
Credits priced at $14–45 a tonne; Kigali hosts CMAS 2026 on 13–15 October.
Why it matters. Fewer, higher-integrity authorisations: good for premium pricing if you clear the bar, slow if you are a volume play.
Article 6.4 experts advance two clean-cooking methodologies and a reversal-risk tool
The direction is metered stove usage replacing surveys, with a transition around 2028 still to be confirmed in the panel report.
Why it matters. East Africa's cookstove supply is the largest surviving PACM pipeline. New projects should be designed for sensors, not surveys.
Madagascar's updated NDC names forests, energy efficiency, agriculture, waste and blue carbon for Article 6
Madagascar already supplies CORSIA-eligible units and joined IATA's supply alliance in June.
Why it matters. A written list of what a host will authorise is rare. Blue carbon and forests are on it.
Zimbabwe plans payments-for-ecosystem-services pilots and biodiversity credits
A widening of Zimbabwe's compliance-style regime beyond carbon.
Why it matters. Stacked revenue could improve project economics; expect the state's 30 percent share to follow.
